| After having retail stores and representing footwear companies, our family relocated to the Gulf Coast, and in the 1980’s we realized the excitement of Birkenstocks. We opened a shoe department in an exclusive women’s apparel shop at Bayou Village in Gulf Shores, (this soon led to expansion). When we leased retail space at the Bayou, the growth of Sand Dollar began to spread to Orange Beach, and then to Foley, and then to Mobile and then back to the Eastern Shore. When we opened the Mobile location, it began as a Birkenstock Specialty store. We proudly became one of the top producers in the country (this also led to expansion). We expanded that location to what has now become a 22,000 square foot clothing store, which specializes in comfort and casual footwear. This is when Sand Dollar Shoes evolved into Sand Dollar Lifestyles. With this we opened the first “shop-in-shop” in the United States for Merrell Footwear®. Our latest project is at “The Wharf” in Orange Beach that offers eight “Shop-in-Shops” which includes Mephisto®, Clarks®, Timberland®, Dansko®, Birkenstock®, Crocs®, Ecco®, and Merrell®. We are pleased to say that we are the leading retailer for these brands in the Southeast. We are also proud to carry clothing by The North Face®, Columbia®, Carhartt®, Tori Richards®, and many more. Sand Dollar Lifestyles has expanded to six stores ranging from 6,000 square feet to 12,000, 17,000 to 22,000 square feet, all filled with the finest, most popular apparel, shoes and accessories available. Sand Dollar offers the largest selection of shoes and apparel of any independent retailer in the entire country.
